A video of 13-year-old student Amitabh Gupta, who approached the District Magistrate with a family problem during a Samadhan Diwas public hearing in the district, is spreading rapidly on social media. Amitabh, a Class 8 student, presented his case to the officials with remarkable confidence and presence of mind. When a police officer assured him that the problem would be “looked into today,” the child immediately replied, “Sir, don’t just look into it; please get it resolved.” His response brought smiles to the faces of the District Magistrate and other officials present.
Lock placed on part of the house; family cites financial hardship
According to the information available, Amitabh lives in the Eidgah locality of Lakhimpur city. He told the District Magistrate that his aunt had placed a lock on a portion of the family house. The child said that if the lock were opened, his mother could rent out that portion and the rent would help meet the household expenses.
Amitabh also described the family’s financial condition and told the officials that it had become difficult to manage household expenses. He spoke about everyday costs and the family’s limited income. His ability to explain the problem clearly at such a young age drew the attention of those attending the public hearing.
DM directs police to visit the site and investigate
According to the report, District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh, after hearing the matter, directed the police to visit the site and examine the situation. Inspector Rajesh Singh, who was present there, assured the child that the matter would be looked into the same day. Amitabh promptly responded that the issue should not merely be looked into but should be resolved.
The video shows the child standing before the officials’ table and continuing to explain his case. The officials listen to him and appear to smile at several points in response to his candid manner.
