Corrections and Grievances
Public processes are available for errors, replies and formal grievances.
Primary Records
Prioritise original documents, official portals, direct interviews, field verification and time-stamped photographs or video.
Double Verification
Verify a material claim through at least two independent sources or one strong primary record with supporting evidence.
Language of Allegations
Do not write an allegation as an established fact. Use clear terms such as “alleged”, “claimed”, “according to records” and “not independently confirmed”.
Safety
Do not attend a risky location alone, escalate confrontation, obstruct law enforcement or expose a sensitive source’s identity in a phone or public chat.
Files and Captions
Keep original files. Captions should state date, location, people, source and whether an image is representative or archival.
